(Washington, D.C. – November 21, 2017) The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) congratulates Frank Giordano, executive vice president of National Membership of NIAF, on his appointment to the Advisory Committee on the Arts of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

The Kennedy Center, located in Washington, D.C., is one of the most esteemed arts institutions in the nation. Its Advisory Committee on the Arts is a national advisory board appointed by the president of the United States, in which members are chosen for their knowledge of, and experience in, the arts. Members of the Committee act as ambassadors to their home states on behalf of the Kennedy Center and its national education and outreach programs. They also advise and collaborate with the Board of Trustees, and make recommendations regarding existing and prospective cultural activities to be hosted by the Kennedy Center.

“Mr. Giordano has been a leader and a visionary in theater, music and arts programs in Philadelphia, as exhibited in the growth and strengthening of both the Philly Pops and the Philadelphia Youth Organization,” said Gabriel A. Battista, co-chair of NIAF. “The national recognition of the excellence of these programs is a result of his strong leadership.”

Giordano is the president and chief executive officer of The Philly POPS, America’s largest stand-alone POPS orchestra. Originally from South Philadelphia, and raised in New Jersey, he is a graduate of Rutgers University. He currently serves as the president and chief executive officer of the Atlantic Trailer Leasing Corporation, a transportation and storage equipment company that has been in the Giordano family since 1949.

Giordano is also a dedicated philanthropist. As chairman of Goodwill Industries of Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia, he has instituted programs to benefit underserved constituencies. He also has supported the Abraham Lincoln Foundation as chairman to open the Sir John Templeton Heritage Center, and has founded the Frank and Dottie Giordano Responsibility Scholarship that financially supports working Rutgers-Camden students while they gain business experience in unpaid internships.

Giordano a member of the Rowan University Board of Trustees, the Rutgers School of Business Dean’s Leadership Council, chairman of Il Convivio Inc., a board member of the Salvation Army New Jersey State Advisory Board, and a member of the Philadelphia Business Council for the Consulate General of Italy. He has been honored with the prestigious Order of the Merit of the Italian Republic by the Ambassador of Italy, the Philadelphia Business Hall of Fame Award, the Philadelphia Music Alliance’s inaugural Platinum Award, and a City Council of Philadelphia Citation.
