NIAF Italpress Internship in Journalism

NIAF and Italpress are proud to announce a new collaboration to offer three-month long internships for three Italian American students or young professionals with an interest in journalism. Each intern will work 36 hours a week at their choice of Italpress’s offices in Palermo, Rome or Milan.  At the beginning of the internship, NIAF will award each intern a €5,000 stipend to cover the cost of travel and accommodations.

About Italpress

Italpress is a multimedia journalistic agency that produces hundreds of news items daily covering all the main information sectors, television formats, video services, podcasts, and offers tailor-made communication services for institutions, companies, associations, public and private organizations.

How to Apply:

To apply, candidates must complete the online application and submit a copy of an up-to-date resume, your most recent transcript and a letter of recommendation submitted on their behalf to education@niaf.org by the June 15, 2024 deadline. Finalists will undergo a virtual interview in Italian with Italpress staff.

Eligibility

To qualify for the program, applicants must:

  • Have an active NIAF Membership
  • Have at least one ancestor who has immigrated from Italy
  • Be a junior or senior in college, or in the first year out of college, at beginning of the internship
  • Have working proficiency in speaking, writing and listening in Italian

Important Notes

Please note that NIAF and Italpress cannot guarantee that interns will receive school credit for their fellowship. Fellows who are interested in receiving college credit should be in contact with their university career center and an academic advisor.

After receiving notification of their acceptance, interns must apply for a study internship visa and the process may take up to 90 days.  Interns may begin their internship in Italy when their visa is approved.
