Washington, DC (202/483-3000)Contact: Elissa Ruffino, (NIAF) 202/939-3106 or elissa@niaf.org During the National Italian American Foundation’s (NIAF) 28th Anniversary Convention and Gala weekend, the Foundation is hosting Milestones of the Italian American Experience, an overview of Italian American history by Professor Salvatore LaGumina, author of NIAF’s new interactive timeline — Milestones of the Italian American Experience, www.niaf.org/milestones
Professor LaGumina’s presentation will include a tutorial and demonstration of the timeline.Milestones displays the Italian American experience and highlights the valuable contributions and achievements Italian Americans have made in the US while exploring the adversities encountered along the way.
Documentary filmmaker, Peter Miller, will present a screening of the trailer from his film, Sacco and Vanzetti, and will be available for questions.
The conference is free and open to the public.
Milestones of the Italian American Experience is presented in conjunction with the NIAF’s 28th Anniversary Convention & Gala weekend, October 24 and October 25.
Please join us the next day from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM in the Lincoln Room for another NIAF conference, “The Italian American Vote: Does it Count?” with guest speaker Robert D. Novak, national syndicated columnist with the Chicago Sun-Times and host of CNN’s Crossfire.
