Preserve the Art of the Neapolitan Nativity

The National Italian American Foundation has partnered with City of Naples, Italy and the Con Il Sud Foundation for the creation of the Academy of Neapolitan Nativity Art. The objectives of the academy are to preserve nativity artmaking which is endangered due to the difficulty of training new recruits, promote tourism and interest in the Neapolitan nativity tradition, and to create new job opportunities for young people from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds.

As NIAF has received special consultative status with the United Nations’ Economic and Social Council, we are dedicated to assisting the City of Naples in its effort to establish the Neapolitan Nativity art as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
