"On behalf of the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) Board of Directors, we honor the memories and the lives of the 146 young Italian and Jewish garment immigrant workers who perished on March 25, 1911, at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in Manhattan. These immigrants, like many of our ancestors, came to America seeking a better life. In particular, many Italian immigrants who worked in factories throughout the United States, especially in the garment industry, in many cases were the unspoken heroes of the great American success stories of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

NIAF takes this opportunity to recognize and appreciate the contributions of all hardworking Americans, who continue to help make America achieve its greatness.”
