Follow the NIAF Voyage Of Discovery!
Si, they're in Italy! On May 27, the 20 college students participating in NIAF's annual Ambassador Peter F. Secchia Voyage of Discovery program arrived at Rome Fiumicinio and began an all-expenses-paid, 10-day excursion designed to strengthen their Italian American identity by bonding with the country, culture and heritage of Italy. This year's Voyage of Discovery destination is Calabria, where the program will include educational lectures, service opportunities, meetings with government officials and business leaders, and visits to government offices, international corporations, museums and other cultural attractions. The United Way 24-Hour Give-A-Thon
United Way is hosting "Do More 24"— a 24-hour day of giving on June 6 when Americans make a special effort to go online and give to their favorite charities. Celebrate the Year of Italian Culture 2013!
This year-long initiative by the Italian government to promote Italy's innovative contributions to the world in science, technology and culture features an extensive program of events around the United States, including art exhibits, theatrical performances, concerts and conferences focusing on literature, architecture, the sciences, design, fashion and food. The June calendar includes:
  • Exhibition at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art of the ancient masterpiece sculpture "The Boxer," June 1 - July 15.
  • Top Italian jazz musicians Enrico Rava, Stefano Bollani and the Paolo Fresu and Uri Caine duo play concerts in New York, Boston and San Francisco, June 4-13.
  • Barrique: A Third Life For Wood—Exhibits of design objects by several top Italian designers manufactured by the Community of San Patrignano, touring to Charleston, June 6 – 7, Miami, June 13 – 14, Houston, June 20 – 21, and New York, June 30 – July 2, and other cities through October 11.

Roberto Bolle & Friends
Don't miss what promises to be a memorable and unique evening with one of Italy's most beloved artists, Roberto Bolle, principal dancer with Etoile for Teatro alla Scala of Milano and the first Italian to be named principal dancer with American Ballet Theater. Bolle returns to New York City to share the spotlight with some of his friends—acclaimed dancers such as Jirí Bubenìcek, Marlon Dino, Lucia Lacarra, Alicia Amatriain and Jason Reilly—performing solos and pas de deux from classic and modern ballets. Pino Daniele Concert—NYC
Legendary Naples-born Italian vocalist, composer and musician, known worldwide for fusing pop, blues, jazz, Italian and Middle eastern music into his own unique brand of world music, is coming to Stage 48 in New York City, June 18 and 19, concert at 8 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.). A Night in Roma – Fort Lauderdale

Support the Nottingham High School Italian Club's first ever fundraiser, "An Italian Dinner & Music Night," on Friday, June 14, from 6 -10 p.m. The evening will include music and food displays, and performances by students and professional entertainers such as the traditional Italian folk dancing ensemble Coro d'Italia, comedian Floyd Vivino (Uncle Floyd) and international singing sensation Michael Castaldo. "Da Vinci: The Genius" Exhibit
Planning a trip this summer to Disneyland? Add another day to your itinerary to see the new "Da Vinci: The Genius" exhibition at the Discovery Science Center right down the road in Santa Ana, Calif. The exhibit demonstrates the full scope of Leonardo Da Vinci's remarkable genius as an inventor, artist, anatomist, sculptor, engineer, musician and architect. Ancient Art of Sicily — Southern Cal
Drop in on the masterpieces of ancient art at the new antiquities exhibition, "Sicily: Art and Invention between Greece and Rome," at the J. Paul Getty Villa in Malibu, Calif. The exhibition of about 150 ancient artworks will run through August 19, then travels to the Cleveland Museum of Art where it will be on view September 29 through January 5, 2014.
