Attenzione: Apply for NIAF Scholarships and Grants
Time is running out to apply for one of more than 80 scholarships NIAF is offering for the 2012-2013 academic year. The deadline for applications is March 2. Last year, the scholarships NIAF awarded to students in the United States averaged more than $3,000.

To be eligible, applicants either must be of Italian descent, with at least one ancestor who has emigrated from Italy, or be a student of any ethnic background majoring or minoring in the Italian language, Italian Studies, Italian American studies or a related field. NIAF scholarship recipients are selected on academic merit: Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 to apply. The application is available online at www.niaf.org/scholarships.

Meanwhile, applications for 2012-2013 NIAF Grants will be available online at www.niaf.org/grants in March. The deadline for submitting a proposal for a grant project that supports NIAF’s mission in promoting Italian American heritage and culture is June 30.

Tribute to “The Legend” Jimmy Roselli
Remember the “other” crooner from Hoboken? Well, if you ever heard the late, great Jimmy Roselli sing, you remember. Roselli, who passed away last July, spent his performing career in the long shadow of Frank Sinatra, but was always a longtime favorite among Italian Americans. On February 19, the Coral Springs Center for the Arts, in Coral Springs, Fla., will host a tribute concert to Roselli. Italia Carolina’s 2nd Annual Italian American Heritage Concert
Don’t miss the 2nd Annual Italian American Heritage Concert in Raleigh, N.C., featuring the magical voices of Michael Amante and Marissa Famiglietti, backed by a 22-piece symphony orchestra! Congratulations to Ambassador Claudio Bisogniero who has been appointed as Italy’s new Ambassador to the United States. He replaces former Ambassador Giulio Terzi di Sant'Agata, who now serves as Italy’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. “The Foundation looks forward to working with Ambassador Bisogniero and to enhancing the already outstanding relationship between the United States and Italy,” said NIAF President Joseph V. Meet Artist Mario Canali
You are invited to the upcoming exhibition at The Downtown Art Center Gallery (DAC Gallery) in Los Angeles showing new and innovative works by Italian-born artist Mario Canali. The exhibition kicks off on Saturday, March 10, with an opening night artist reception and evening of fine art, fine food and fine wine. Castiglione at The National Gallery of Art
The National Gallery is showcasing approximately 80 works on paper by the Italian baroque master Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione (1609–1664), as well as works by his contemporaries and followers.
