The forum's panel of experts will address the subject of Italy's recently elected parliament, Italy and Europe's stability, and major challenges ahead. Celebrate the Year of Italian Culture 2013!
"The Year of Italian Culture 2013" is an initiative by the Italian government to promote Italy's innovative contributions to the world in science, technology and culture, through a program of events around the United States this year. The year-long series of events will include art exhibits, theatrical performances, concerts and conferences focusing on literature, architecture, the sciences, design, fashion and food. Italians in DC – 2013 Wine Tasting Seminars
Italians in DC is hosting a series of wine-tasting seminars continuing through May. Each seminar will focus on a different wine producing region of Italy and include tastings of some of that region's finest wines along with a detailed profile of each wine, best food pairings and information about the region. The next seminar takes place Monday, April 15, 2013; 7:30-9 p.m. Subsequent seminars are scheduled for May 6 and May 20. IDC members, $30 per seminar; nonmembers, $35. In Concert: The Music of Alfred Morena Sr.—NYC
On Sunday, April 21, attend the world premiere of the long-lost music of Alfred Morena Sr. (1893 – 1929) whose piano and violin compositions, along with art songs in Italian by Morena and other composers, was discovered by the composer-musician's son and namesake. Performing the compositions will be violinist Anna Heifetz (with her nine-year-old daughter); violinist Michelle Stern; soprano Maureen Smith Setton; and tenor Rinaldo Toglia.
